Year Book Art (Year End Review Page)
This semester I also took yearbook. We did lots of different photography, but my favourite project was "The Year End Review". Instead of it being a photography assignment, it was more of an art project. A fellow student, Grace Esford and I were partner up to creat the last two pages of the yearbook, that is visual images of the important or biggest things that happen this year. We started by doing each our own brainstorming and then getting together to create the best list. We then decided who was going to do what drawings. For awhile we were sketching away to each get about twenty drawings done. Some of the drawings I did were of Lil Wayne, Kanye's Dark Fatasy album, Pretty Little Liars, B.O.B, Nicki Minaj Pink Friday album, Toy Story, the Superbowl Green Bay Packers Win, and many more. When all drawings were finally done and shaded dark enough, we scanned all of them into the computer. Once all drawings were on the computer, I was assigned to combine all the images into a college. I used a two page spread in Photoshop to size, enhance contrast, and draw in extra images. It was alot of fun to draw all the images and then put it all together and see the final outcome.

Photography
I love photography as well. This semester we studied architectural photography and audio portraitures. Both assignments were fun but I liked the architectural one more, found you could be more creative being outside of a classroom or studio. I got to try different settings, effects, and angles.
ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY
For our architectural assignment, we had 13 pictures to shoot overall, each showing different themes. I personally picked these pictures to share because I think it is one of the best that I took for this assignment. My pictures were taken with a Nikon at the Odessa creek. I picked the creek to do my photos because it's my favorite place in Odessa where you can go and just relax and enjoy your surroundings. After taking these pictures, I uploaded them using a card reader to the IMAC. Once on computer we could edited or enhance some of our top photos using Adobe Photoshop. On this photo I started out with cropping and sharpened it bait. I also used the tools auto colour, auto contrast, and auto level. Last final touch ups I increased contrast and highlights.
HEADSHOT
HEADSHOT
My head shot I took is of Eve. For the head shots we got to use to studio. We used a Nikon camera hooked up to a flash unit with umbrella reflector. We had the flash at a 45 degree angle from the model, and a back light. We also used a fill suppressor to reflect the light off the background. Our head shots were to be creative but professional and still show our personality. We used cool angles, creative framing and cropping, and a sharp classy background.I used Adobe Photoshop again to sharpen it, do auto level and contrast, and increase contrast and highlights. Also had to erase background and add in a black layer to make the background black. I patiently and carefully erased in and around the model and her hair.
Video Production
In com tech this semester we made two types of different videos. I would of still loved to make more. We got to make bumpers and work on Holy Cross's 25th Anniversary video. In video production I am more about graphics and editing. I enjoy working with a camera in my hands but would much rather be on the macs editing the final production.
INTRO/ BUMPERS
INTRO/ BUMPERS
Personally I thought the bumpers were a lot of fun. You got to be creative and really had a good variety of different techniques, and skills to pick from. We made three bumpers, one for HCTV, KASSAA, and Holy Cross 25th Anniversary. We used Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Soundtrack Pro. In a ten second bumper we had to have motion, backgrounds, background music, sound effects, text and slugs. For HCTV, and 25th Anniversary I kept it classic, and got the point across, but for the KASSAA bumper I put a little more effort and creative thoughts into it. I used the motion tool in Final Cut Pro to animate sport balls, a basketball, baseball, and football.
ANNIVERSARY VIDEO
The 25th anniversary videos took a lot more work then any of the students where expecting I think. They took quite bait of time, and they were much more sophisticated techniques, effects and more layers that needed to be added. To begin the video we really started out with interviews of the Class of 2011 grads. Before interviews we arranged teams and were assigned our topics. Each team mate had their own job; Audio, Graphics, & Interviewer. I was in charge of graphics. We made the video in Final Cut Pro and used Soundtrack Pro for music. We started the video by logging and capturing our talking heads, and erasing the blue screen background. After we had all the heads in, we added in background images and effects such as guassin blur, and fades. For final touch we added background music, sound clips, and headings.

Graphic Design
Graphic Design is one of my stronger areas in com tech. I enjoy the creative and outside the box thinking you are required to use. I've considered going into a future career involving graphic designs. This semester in com tech we have finished to different assignments using graphic design, such as our personal logo designs and 25th Anniversary DVD case.
PERSONAL LOGO DESIGN
The
Holy Cross 25th Anniversary cover case was more work, and
layers. I set up the lay out for the cover in Adobe Photoshop and then
started working away on backgrounds, texts, and images. I imported
images from disc and thought of an interesting way to lay them out in
a creative form that represented Holy Cross. I chose school colours
for the backgrounds and borders.
Artist Intro
Hello, my name is Jessica Madore and I'm a grade twelve student at Holy Cross. I'm a enthusiastic communication technology and visual arts student. I'm eager to go to these classes everyday and do the work we're assigned. I've enjoyed visual arts for 4 years and com tech for 3. During my educational journey at Holy Cross, I have also taken part in SHSM and HCTV. These extra circular programs have helped me pressure my creative technology career. I've learned new things, techniques, and gained more experience. While at HC I have also taken yearbook, business, computer engineering and a co-op placement. For my co-op placement I was at CFRC Queen's Radio Station. I have really enjoyed my educational art & tech career at Holy Cross, and will miss it dearly. In the future I intend on taking an Arts Fundamental course and then pursuing in Computer Animation. I would really like to continue my study’s at Sheridan or Humber College, and hope one day to work for a movie studio such as Universal or Warner Brothers.
